Happy New year

Well that's it, festivity's over for another year,
santa having a well earned rest
My new years resolution,
as well as to write regular articles for my blog,
is to embrace every season,
I tend to err towards the summer months,
as a beach and sun lover,
but every season has its beauty,
Which  I have been discovering due to my new obsession,
Pinterest

Here are some stunning winter shots from my pinterest board, winter wonderland

beautiful colours of winter sunset

Central park, always makes me think of home alone

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

 white wonderland

beautiful, blue door in the snow

 City snowfall

dashing through the snow....on a one horse open sleigh

That cabin looks so welcoming

Hope you agree that winter has got its plus points,
a covering of snow makes everything look magical,
and if you get too cold,
there is always,
warm and cosy open fires after a day sledding,
with a great film
and mug of hot chocolate with all the trimmings,
whipped cream and chocolate flakes,
and maybe an odd candy cane left over from Christmas
That should keep you warm enough until Spring

Come and visit me on pinterest for more breathtaking winter wonderland shots

International delivery at PB teen

Great News for anyone living outside the USA, PB teen are now delivering to over 75 countries including the UK.
I absolutely love PB teen designs, there is a strong surf inspired element in the rooms, which I love.
Obviously larger items cannot be shipped but electric goods are available and there are some stunning lamps, you will however, have to get an adapter to use them in the UK. The room above is gorgeous, serene colors and very beachy, love the patchwork peace sign on the quilt in tropical style fabric, the coral and pink capiz shell lamp is really cute and adds a pop of color

colorful capiz shell lamps

Add a splash of color and texture with a gorgeous cascade of capiz shell

This is a stunning room and just shows you don't always need much color to make an impact, A lot of people are scared of plain white walls, thinking they will be stark and bland, but with a blue or turquoise accent they can be really fresh and bright. The room above is very surfer chic. The white capiz floor lamp is beautiful and I love the bead-board peg rail above the bed for hanging bags, jewellery etc off, always a favorite is the Hawaiian hibiscus pattern on the bedding which is beautifully accented with a plain white throw embellished with cute pom- poms. The canvas beach sign adds a nice contrast.

Another thing PB teen does well is girly pretty rooms like this, very simple but very effective. The walls are painted pale pink and the only pattern is on the bed sheets, what makes the room interesting is the ruffle details on the quilt which is echoed on the curtains, cushions, and lamp. The black wrought iron of the bed and the letter S on the wall adds some dark contrast, but not to much, keeping the room light and bright. The white shaggy beanbag and rug add another texture.A very frilly girly room fit for a teen princess

Another four poster bed and another white, but colorful room. The funky bright bedding takes center stage in this gorgeous bright room.I love the bead-board walls, painted fresh white, I think these are seen more in America than the Uk, I love them, you can get the effect with easi- panel, which is available in d.i.y stores. The oversize Chinese paper lanterns are a great touch, as are the shaggy fur chair and rug. Also I love the cute pom-pom embellishment on the throw and cushion

A big silhouette of a horse and rider is the main focus of this horse loving girls room, all show ribbons and medals are on display along the top of the room adding more color, very simple stripes and spots but very effective, I like the touch of the saddle mounted on the wall. The bed is a bit different here, with no headboard, but a useful shelving unit along the side of the bed, making it a dual purpose seating and sleeping area. Nice idea

It isn't just bedrooms at PB teen, how cool is this study area. The gorgeous driftwood angel fish is one of my favorite items, and also the old oar.Not forgetting one of the best coastal decor items, starfish....and lots of them
Versatile glass based lamp

Glass bottle lamp, add your own shells, sand or other beach treasure

Back to another bedroom. Tie dyed in colors of aqua, indigo blue and lime. Sign post mural behind the bed depicting far flung destinations. Hibiscus design chair, surfboard and shell lamp continue the surfer theme.
coconut shell lamp
Check out the coconut shell lamp on top of the drawer unit, very different, simple sheer white curtains keep the room airey

A bed fit for a teen queen. Simple design using monochrome and one accent color, looks stunning, matching bedside lamp. Nicely co-ordinates with the tailors dummy in black and white polka dots which is being used as a pin board and the white pom-pom throw.

Not just for the girls, there's plenty for the boys too. Darker colors make it more masculine, love the industrial look with the brick walls and galvanized trunks.Amazing stick man floor lamp playing the guitar, and real guitar collection on display. American and British flags adorn the walls, cos you cant have a rock inspired room without a union jack. Altogether a room any teenage boy would be proud of.

Surfs up...cool surfer room, surf inspired bedding, and a rug the color of the ocean. Surfboard mural takes center stage, a surfboard is suspended from the ceiling in place of a headboard. Filimg cabinet style drawers complete the look.

Who said boys rooms had to be boring. Simple white walls in this room are filled with interesting pieces, such as the skateboard shaped shelves, vintage signs and large driftwood branch that is being used as a pin-board.

Another room for an aspiring young musician.Love the light-bulb shaped light up chalkboard for jotting down ideas as they happen, and every room should have a glass demijohn for saving pennies

light bulb light up idea board
novelty lighting with sound recording theme

Ideal for music lovers, male and female alike. A variety of lights and back-lights for your equipment.

Outdoor Style at pottery Barn

Pottery Barn summer always has fantastic beach style. The designers at pottery barn are very clever, you can imagine sitting, in this amazing beach setting, on this fantastic seating, and sipping a refreshing cocktail while soaking up the sun, . The outdoor settees are complimented with outdoor cushions and rug, and gorgeous lanterns and accessories, its what dreams are made of.
You may not have your own private beach, but there are a few design details you could recreate in your garden, to evoke days at the sea.
I love the clam-shell planter and big pieces of driftwood, the glass hurricane lamp on the table could be easily reproduced with an inexpensive glass vase or hurricane and some finds from a beach trip
Pottery barn do a good selection of outdoor cushions in many different designs, a lot with beach inspired themes, at the moment we are unable to get pottery barn in the UK,so unless you have relatives or friends in US who could send them, you will have to wait for pottery Barn to deliver to the UK

Another classic style from pottery barn, the  classic adirondack chair painted white or pastel colors or left wood these chairs are super stylish beach chairs, they always look great, especially in a setting like this, with a tin bucket, full of ice cold beers....heaven

Adirondack chairs in White, accented with beachy stripe towels, love the lanterns on the beach hut windows

And more chairs, this time in various colors with a pale blue parasol, whichever colors you chose, these chairs are a stylish investment and will last for years, in fact they still look great when they have aged a little

How about lunch in this setting on a chunky rustic metal topped table and wicker chairs. The collection of vintage bottles makes a  great display. I love glass, especially with a blue tint, and think it sits very well with any beach style decor, fill them with shells or sea glass for added beachy flair.
I would just love eat out on this gorgeous veranda

Lobsters and cold beer or wine by the sea, need I say more.

Yet another stunning dinning setting, which would you chose from them all.
I love the curved seats, that would sit 2 people. You could get a good gathering round this table, for burgers and cola.Things I love here are the vintage sign and pepsi crates

What a view of the pier, the metal barrels are great as tables and as a planter.I also like the Chinese lanterns strung along the pagoda, and the nautical rope, all ideas you could copy easily

I have always loved aged white furniture, and this looks great with a coastal theme, blue seat pads and matching canopy compliment the look. Also my favorite decoration, glass fishing floats strung under the parasol look fantastic.I have managed to get some replicas of these in The Range store recently and very cheaply.
Glass hurricane lamps always look effective, with a chunky candle and some sand and shells, perfect.

Hope you have enjoyed the outdoor beach themes from pottery barn to see more visit there website at www.potterybarn.com
